Hello Dolly

Directed at de la Salle High School

Hello Dolly was adjudicated by the Hennepin Theater Trust Spotlight on Musical Theater Program. Below are some of the comments from the judges:

"The overall direction of the show was strong. There were lots of interesting moments both with small scenes and big choral numbers, great stage pictures and use of space, including the audience. The silhouettes were surprising and varied enough to engage me throughout the production."

"The chorus was one of the more consistent elements of the production and held my interest by adding much needed energy to their scenes. They were able to create characters without upstaging the action. There were some other great members from the Tap Dancer, Judge, Waiters, Minnie and Barnaby. I must mention how great the Waiters were, it just kept going and I enjoyed every clever little trick. The Tap Solo in the opening deserves a special mention, and unexpected treat."

"It's not clear if the show was solely choreographed by the director, or if some of the student talent contributed. It must be mentioned the tap solo at the top of the show was a great surprise! The chorus looked well rehearsed and movements were appropriate to their skill level. The waiters, however, stole the show! Hilarious, well conceived, fun, high energy, and excellent use of existing skills, they were such a great ensemble!"
