A 21st Century Dream
By Marina Agerter
"Every seat in the Proscenium Theatre at Rarig Center was filled Friday night as the University Theatre kicked off its 2001 season with August Strindberg's A Dream Play.
The production itself features a solid cast under the direction of Aleksandra Wolska. The narrative follows the journey of Agnes, the daughter of the god Indra, to earth to experience the existential misery of mortals.
Through her interactions
with the inhabitants of this dream world, she comes to the painful realization
that life is an illusion that never fulfills humanity's dreams. Kristopher
Lencowski stands out as The Officer, expertly milking all of the tragic comedy
out of his pathetic yet noble character, a toy soldier who desperately courts
his love to no avail."
